Dandruff: the 7-day reset that actually holds
Flakes are a fungal and barrier problem, not a dryness problem. Here is the correct order.

What dandruff really is
Most dandruff is driven by Malassezia, a yeast that feeds on scalp oils and irritates the skin barrier. That is why moisturising alone fails, and why harsh sulphate shampoos backfire — they damage the barrier and the yeast returns stronger.
Days 1–7
Wash every alternate day with a neem and tea tree cleanser, leaving the lather on the scalp for two full minutes before rinsing. Skip heavy oiling during this week; use a light leave-in mist instead so the scalp stays calm but not greasy.
After week one
Drop back to two washes a week and reintroduce oiling once weekly. Keep the anti-dandruff shampoo in rotation — dandruff is managed, not cured, and the flakes return within three weeks of stopping entirely.
When to see a doctor
Thick yellow scale, bleeding, or flaking that spreads to the eyebrows and face may be seborrhoeic dermatitis or psoriasis, which need medical treatment. Herbal care supports those conditions but does not replace a dermatologist.
