What changes when you go sulphate-free
Less squeak, less shedding on wash day, and colour that stays. The trade-offs, honestly.

The squeak is damage
That clean squeaking feeling is the sound of a stripped cuticle. Sulphates are efficient detergents that remove sebum indiscriminately, taking the protective lipid layer with it. Coconut-derived cleansers clean at a gentler threshold.
What you notice first
Wash-day hair fall drops, because wet stripped hair snaps under combing. Frizz settles. Colour and henna hold noticeably longer. Scalps that used to feel tight after washing stop feeling tight.
The honest trade-off
Sulphate-free lather is smaller, and heavy oiling needs two washes. That is the entire downside — and rinsing twice is far kinder to your hair than one aggressive wash.
Rice water and hibiscus
Fermented rice water contributes inositol, which stays bound to hair after rinsing and reduces surface friction; hibiscus contributes amino acids that support keratin. Together they deliver the gloss most people expect silicones to fake.
